NFL: Everson Griffen Enters the 2010 NFL Draft

USC defensive end Everson Griffen told reporters after the Emerald Bowl that he intends on skipping his senior season and entering the NFL draft.  Checking in at 6′ 3″ and upwards of 280 pounds Griffen is considered a late first to early second round prospect.

Griffen has adequate size to play end in a 4-3 scheme but would probably need to add a few pounds to play in a 3-4 defensive front.

A team like the Eagles or Saints could have an interest in Griffen.  The Saints have a need for a pass rushing end to compliment Will Smith and Reid has always had an affection for drafting lineman in the first round of the draft.  It seems unlikely he ends up as a first round selection though.

It seems more likely that he will got near the top of the second round as teams like St. Louis, Detroit, Tampa Bay, Kansas City, Cleveland, and Buffalo are all in need of ends who can get after the quarterback.

He has an outside shot at being a first round pick but going at the top of the second round seems a more likely scenario.
