Chester Taylor Signs With Chicago
The Bears made their first big splash in the free agent market signing former Minnesota running back Chester Taylor to a four year deal Friday.
It seems to be a bit of a puzzling move. Taylor had expressed an interest in signing with a team that would give him an opportunity to compete for a starting job, but, one has to wonder how much of a chance he stands with Matt Forte already there. He would probably get a chance given how underwhelming Forte was last season.
One also has to wonder how good of an addition Taylor really is for the Bears. He is a similar runner to Forte and some of Forte’s struggles last season came as a result of running behind a so-so offensive line. It just seems as though the Bears should be focusing on finding better talent for Jay Cutler to throw the ball to and upgrading the offensive line rather than adding depth to the running game.
