The Cardinals need Holliday in the lineup to protect Albert Pujols and show him that they are dedicated to building winning franchise as they prepare to attempt to re-sign him to a long term contract.

The Chicago Cubs completed their first major free agent acquisition of the off season signing former Texas Rangers outfielder Marlon Byrd to a three year deal reportedly worth $15 million. It is expected that Byrd will man center field for the Cubs next season while Kosuke Fukudome is expected to move back to right field.

The “Baywatch” saga has come to an end in New York as Jason Bay has agree to a guaranteed four year contract worth a reported $66 million that has a vesting option for a fifth year.

The New York Yankees have acquired Javier Vazquez and Boone Logan from the Braves for Melky Cabrera, Mike Dunn, and $500,000 in cash. It is an interesting deal for the Yankees, to say the least, and I am kind of torn on whether it is a good move for them or not.

Now that Johnny Damon’s days in the Bronx appear to be over the question is where will Damon play next year? There is already some speculation as to where Damon may end up this winter.
